Janice Elaine McGaughey Boarts

Janice Elaine McGaughey Boarts, age 77, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at Kittanning Care Center.

She was born March 9, 1934, in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the daughter of Daniel and Edna Lucille (Mulberger) McGaughey.

Janice lived her entire life in the area and graduated from Elderton High School in 1952. She formerly worked at Ford's Flowers as a clerk. Flowers and gardening were two passions of hers, and she loved spending time tending to her beautiful gardens. Janice's favorite times, however, were those spent with her family and she loved taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold E. "Pete" Boarts; children, Barry Boarts and companion, Rose Alwine, of Kittanning, Karen Thomas and husband, Dave, of Elderton, Rodney E. Boarts and wife, Cathy, of Kittanning, Robin E. Boarts and companion, Doug Meyer, of Kittanning, and Shari Claypool and husband, Jeff, of Slate Lick; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Dorthy Seanor, of New York; and brothers, Blair McGaughey, of Wisconsin and Lisle McGaughey, of Ford City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

At Janice's request, services will be private.
