Peggy L. Reitler
Peggy L. Reitler, age 46, of Kittanning, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA, surrounded by her family. She was born November 8, 1965 in Kittanning, the daughter of Anthony John "A.J." and Patty Jean (Roofner) Eisenhuth.
Peggy was a lifetime resident of the Kittanning area and graduated from Lenape Vo Tech in 1983. She worked for Beneficial-HSBC Bank for 25 years as assistant vice president and branch sales manager before winning the seat of Tax Collector for East Franklin Township in 2009. Peggy loved being involved in her community and held leadership roles with the Kittanning Rotary, Armstrong Educational Trust, Kittanning Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, Kittanning Business Association and Kittanning Business and Professional Women's Club. She also served on the board of ARC Manor and was the treasurer for the East Brady Youth Football League, where her son played. Peggy and her husband owned and operated Reitler's Auto Body in East Franklin Twp.
Her favorite hobbies included getting up early to visit yard sales and auctions to pick up new treasures and having parties at her house with friends and family. Peggy was always planning the next event and was very organized. She also enjoyed cooking, with homemade ice cream, cookies and steak being her specialties. Peggy's family was one of the founding families of Harvest Community Church. She served as a member of the church's finance team, was a Sunday school teacher and participated in Harvest MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).
Peggy's friends and family will best remember her strong faith and giving spirit. She was always donating gift baskets or money to community organizations in need. Peggy's strong faith and outlook on life touched many people at the surgical center. When Peggy traveled to Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital, she met another patient who needed prayer. To comfort her, Peggy gave her the prayer shawl made for her by Harvest Community Church; this gesture was the perfect example of how she lived her life-putting others' needs before her own. With this selfless act Peggy's family was able to see once more just how much of an impact she had on people's lives, and they know that even though she is now with her Lord her spirit will live on in all the lives she has touched.
She will be deeply missed by her father, A.J. Eisenhuth and wife, Bonnie; loving husband of 22 years, Roger A. Reitler, who she married October 21, 1989; son, Matthew Reitler, at home; sister, Tammy Sue Titus and husband, Brad, of Kittanning; mother-in-law, Arlene Reitler; brother-in-law, Larry Reitler and wife, Gidget, of Worthington; sister-in-law, Tonia Schrecengost and husband, Tyce, of Kittaning; and nieces and nephews, John Robert Titus, Cole, Ava and Ella Schrecengost, and Brittaney and Nick Reitler.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother Patty Jean (Roofner) Eisenhuth; infant brother, John Eric Eisenhuth; and father-in-law, Frank "Ziggy" Reitler.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Harvest Community Church, 143 Reed Rd., Kittanning, PA.
