Beverly Jane Hawk

Beverly Jane Hawk, age 77 of Sligo, PA, formerly of Bruin passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Clarview Nursing Home in Sligo.

She was born April 28, 1934, in Bruin, the daughter of Kenneth and Lottie (Williams) Walters.

Beverly was a graduate of the Bruin High School, class of 1952. She married the love of her life, Glenn Irvin Hawk on January 3, 1953 in Winchester, West Virginia. They shared 40 years of marriage together prior to his death in 1993. She had been employed with the Parker Glass Plant for 10 years as a glass ware packer. It was as a wife, mother and grandmother that she found her true calling, devoting herself wholly to her family. Beverly was an outstanding homemaker and took constant care and guidance of her children through the years. She was a fabulous cook and could prepare a meal that would warm any heart. Her talents were not limited to kitchen; she was also skillful in needlepoint. Beverly was a kind woman with a loving heart and will be truly missed by all.
Her memory will be carried on by her son, Gary Lee Hawk and wife, Betty, of Monroe, GA, and daughters, Denise Anne McElravy and husband, David, of Sligo, Cynthia Lynn Morrison and husband, Rodney, of Emlenton, Judy Rae Reese and husband, Kenneth, of Jacksonville, FL, and Teresa Kay Maurhoff and husband, Vinnie, of Bruin; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ilene Lake, of Butler and Wanda Whitfield, of Fromberg, MT.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn I. Hawk, who died March 27, 1993; son, Dennis James Hawk; parents; and sister, Betty Hurst.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 102 Argyle Street, Petrolia, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wade Berkey officiating.

Burial will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, Butler County, Pennsylvania.

In honor of Beverly, contributions may be made in her memory to Bruin United Methodist Church, 145 Main St., Bruin, PA 16022.
