Margaret A. Lewis

Margaret A. "Peggy" Lewis, age 100, of Kittanning, PA, formerly of Dayton, PA, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Indian Haven Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 9, 1911 in Templeton, PA, the daughter of Ide E. and Anna Mae (Zimmerman) Fox.

Peggy grew up in Templeton and moved to Kittanning in the 1950s with her first husband to operate Reedy's Meat Market on Jefferson St. She moved to Dayton in the mid 1960s and called the area home for 30 years before returning to Kittanning. She was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. Her hobbies included working word puzzles and watching "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune". Peggy was a hard worker and was well-liked by all who knew her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered by her friends and family as being a real card. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and her loving spirit will never be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alverda B. Curren of Ashland, OH, Shirley J. Garthwaite and husband, Dave, of Latrobe, Judy E. Adams and husband, Joseph, of Homer City; step-sons, Alfred Lewis, of Export and Thomas Lewis, of Indiana, PA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 30 years, George V. Lewis, who passed away March 2, 1995; one infant son; granddaughters, Kimmy and Kathy Adams; grandson, David McCoy; step-son, George Lewis; brothers, Howard Fox, Wilmer O. Fox, and Russell G. Fox; and sister, Gertrude Walker Ealy.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of funeral services at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Cotton officiating

Burial will be in Mateer Cemetery, Boggs Twp., Armstrong Co.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Indian Haven Community Building Fund, 1675 Saltsburg Avenue, Indiana, PA 15701.
