Betty Jane Rupp

Betty Jane Rupp, age 85, of Kittanning, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 1, 1926 in Fairmount City, PA, the daughter of Walter James and Florence Belle (Spangler) Clever.

Betty was born during the Great Depression and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Edward and Vira June Foster, in Belknap, PA. She enjoyed her life with her aunt and uncle and married Delbert L. "Deb" Rupp in 1942. He was truly the love of her life and best friend. Together they were the founders and original owners of the Belknap Livestock Auction. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and Dayton Grange 1819.

Cooking was a great passion of Betty's and she loved feeding large groups of people. Between the visitors to the farm, family members and friends, she was always welcoming people warmly to her table. Playing music with her husband was another of her favorite pastimes and they would often entertain friends and neighbors by him playing his violin and her playing the piano. Betty also liked gardening and reading, and later in life enjoyed bus trips with her sister, Pat, and playing cards.

Betty took great pride in raising her family, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be best remembered for being a wonderful mother and for the love she gave to everyone.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Emmy J. McQuaid, of Kittanning, Nancy J. Jamison and husband, Edward, of Rimersburg, Patricia G. Good, of Stuart, FL, Debra J. Bonello and husband, Fred, of Kittanning, and Sue Ann Weidner and companion, John Huey, of Slippery Rock; grandchildren, Scott T. Good and wife, Terri, Donald E. Bowers and wife, Shelley, Amy J. Baloh and husband, Rick, and Jennifer J. Ross and husband, Jason; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Simpson, of Gibsonia, Peggy Ann Wright, of Titusville, Helen Master and husband, Eugene, of Kittanning, and Carol Delacour, of Kittanning.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 54 years, Delbert "Deb" L. Rupp, who died July 1, 1996; brother, Donald A. Clever; and sister, Saramelda Lopez.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Murphy officiating.

Burial will follow at Belknap Cemetery, Wayne Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
