Donna Lee Shilling Smith

Donna Lee Smith, 79, of Sligo, PA, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.

She was born September 20, 1939 in Templeton, PA, the daughter of Wirl Revere Shilling and Dorothy Elvira (Bechtel) Shilling.

Donna grew up in the Templeton area and graduated from Dayton High School in 1957. She was a talented stylist and established Donna Smith's Beauty Salon in Oil City in 1977. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as they grew up and being with her family. Donna took care to diligently pass down her skills of cooking and taking care of her home and family. She was gifted with artistic abilities which she expressed in sewing and creative projects.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly S. Carson (David), and Karen L. Embleton (Scott), grandchildren, Brett Carson (Genece), Blake Carson (Suzanne), Evan Embleton (fiancé Caleb Myers) and Alyssa Embleton; great-grandchildren, Shaley, Sydney, and Sophie Carson, and Emerson Embleton, all of Virginia; sister, Phyllis Meals, of Rimersburg; brother, Robert Shilling (Linda), of Elderton; nephews Dennis Meals (Deborah) and Billy Jo Shilling; and niece Dixie Kimmel (Josh).

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester W. Smith, whom she married May 29, 1958 and who died February 1, 2008; brother, Mac Revere Shilling; and brother-in-law, Lee Meals.

At Donna's request, there is no visitation and services will be private.
