Raymond J. "Ray" White

Raymond J. "Ray" White, 88, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Kittanning Care Center.

He was born March 19, 1930 on his family farm in Wayne Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Edgar A. and Molly (Parrott) White.

Ray was a lifelong resident of Wayne Township and was a proud farmer for his whole life. He grew grain, raised pigs and operated his own milk truck shipping business in the 1950s and 1960s. Hunting was Ray's passion and he traveled all over North America and Canada for hunting trips. In 1964 he shot a record desert big horn ram, which was just one of his many hunting achievements. Ray also received three Pennsylvania Triple Trophy awards for getting a buck, bear and turkey in the same season, and served as president of the Dayton Sportsman's Club. He will be remembered for sharing stories from his many hunting adventures.

He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and was a red coat volunteer at ACMH Hospital. Aside from his farming, hunting and family, Ray was most proud of his hay bale art. For years he would dream, design and build his creations on his farm along the road to Dayton. Ray loved sharing his creativity and making people smile.

His memory will be cherished by his son, Jay White and wife, Julia, of Massillon, OH; daughter, Donna R. Haupt and husband, Brian, of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Andrew J. White, Jennifer K. Ratajczak and husband, Jim, Katie Lowrey and husband, Tom, Travis A. Walker and wife, Andrea, and Todd J. Walker and wife, Jenna; and great-grandchildren, Myla and Lydia Ratajczak, Tucker and Bentley Walker, Kaleb and Landon Walker, and Connor, Brendan, Ian and Brianna Lowrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marie (McIlwain) White, whom he married August 26, 1955 and who died September 13, 2003; brothers, Russel M. White, Woodrow B. "Woody" White, Gerald D. "Pete" White; sisters, Helen F. Rupp and Hazel M. Brown; and infant brother, Ralph K. White.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA, with the Rev. Dana Wilmot officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Cemetery, Templeton, PA.
