Mary Alice Bennett

Mary Alice Bennett, 94, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at ACMH Hospital.

She was born May 28, 1924 in Kittanning, the daughter of Albert A. Schultze and Daphne (Beck) Schultze Kuelper.

Mary Alice was a lifelong resident of Kittanning and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1942. She worked at Big River Manufacturing for many years, working her way up to the position of supervisor. Mary Alice was very involved with the Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society where she gave tours and enjoyed cleaning. She was a member of the North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church and often volunteered her time to help with funeral dinners at the church.

In her free time, Mary Alice enjoyed sweeping and dusting her home and caring for her flowers. She was a gifted baker and frequently made pies for her family. Mary Alice's friends and family also looked forward to eating her specialty: angel food cake. Her cat, Mr. Gracie, held a special place in her heart. Mary Alice was known for her strong-willed personality, and she was always there for her family and those she loved.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Mary Alice Weckerly and companion, Donnie Cornman, of Kittanning; grandchildren, George Weckerly and wife, Donna, and Crystal Cowan and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Jessica Brisbin and husband, Matt; Paul Bevington, Steven Bevington, Nicholas Weckerly, Franklin Cowan, Adam Beers, Gage Cowan, Cody Cowan and Blake Cowan; great-great-grandchildren, Collin Brisbin, Willow Bevington and Roman Bevington; and brother, James Schultze, of Kittanning.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Norman G. Bennett, whom she married April 1, 1945 and who died May 18, 2004; parents and step-father, Arendt Kuelper; brothers, Frances Schultze, Robert C. Schultze and William A. Schultze; sister, Maxine A. Walker; and son-in-law, Ralph L. "Butch" Weckerly.

The family will receive friends from 9 AM until the time of the memorial service at 10 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, 135 Glade Run Rd., Kittanning, PA, with the Rev. James K. Rose officiating.

Private interment in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA, will be held at a later date.
