Betty M. Wood

Betty M. Wood, 89, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Moorehead Place, Indiana.

She was born May 1, 1928 in Rayne Twp., Indiana Co., PA, to John and Goldie (Donahue) Houser.

Betty graduated from Indiana High School in 1947 and moved to the Elderton area after marrying William C. Wood on October 28, 1949. Her husband worked as a gas well driller and she assisted him by serving as the secretary for the business. She was a member of Elderton Presbyterian Church and, in her later years, became very active as the president of the Women's Association. Betty was also a longtime member of the Elderton Fire Department Auxiliary. Betty's favorite hobbies were playing bingo and going to the casino. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Meadowlands Ladies League for many years, where spent many Thursday mornings playing golf. Above all, Betty loved spending time with her family.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Patty Mellish, of Shelocta, Barbara Spangler, of Kittanning, and Deborah Keeler and husband, Jamie, of Shelocta; grandchildren, Todd Mellish and wife, Holly, Haley Black and husband, Don, Troy Wingard and wife, Kelli, Laura Klonowski and husband, Jesse, and Alex Spangler and wife, Adriann; step-grandsons, Steven and Nathan Keeler and wife, Courtney; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Morrison, of Ravenna, OH.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 70 years, William C. Wood, who died December 11, 2017; brother, Robert Houser; and sister, Anna Mae Boyer.

Friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Elderton Presbyterian Church, 115 N. Main St., Elderton, PA, with the Rev. Alfred Kimmel officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
