C. W. ''Charley'' Neal

C. W. "Charley" Neal, 96, of Indiana, PA, formerly of Plumcreek Twp., PA, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Lebanon, Wilson Co., TN to Charlie Carl and Mattie (Turner) Neal.

He was of Protestant Faith. Charley enlisted in the U. S. Navy on February 21, 1939 and served as a WWII and Korean War veteran, during which he held the position as a Flight Engineer on the 1049 Constellations. He retired and was honorably discharged on September 11, 1958 as an Aviation Chief Machinist Mate. He was a member of the P.B.Y. International Org (Patrol Bomber by Consolidated Aircraft Company) and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Anchor #182 of Key West, FL and the Indiana American Legion. Charley was a former longtime resident of Plumcreek Township and his special interests included traveling and farming.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys M. (Kalp) Neal, whom he married October 18, 1961; granddaughter, Sandy Vincent; and great-granddaughters, Nikki and Bailey Vincent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Henry Lee "Hank" Neal; brothers, James Thomas and Roy Turner Neal; and sister, Mattie Christine Schuttenberg.

Friends will be received from 12 - 2 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Clyde-Brooks Funeral Home, 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft, PA, with Rev. Joseph L. Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Acme, PA.
