James Glenn "Jim" Fleming, 79, of Elderton, PA, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Andrew's Village.

He was born August 10, 1937 in Indiana, PA, the son of Glenn R. and Edna (Williams) Fleming.

Jim grew up in the area and graduated from Elderton High School in 1955. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and then worked as an electrical engineer for Northrop Grumman in Long Island, NY. There he helped develop a low-altitude radar for the A6-E Intruder aircraft carrier jet and C5-A Galaxy cargo jet for the military. Northrop Grumman also had Jim travel to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH to teach the Air Force instructors how to employ the radar.

In 1976, Jim returned home and went into business with his father at the family's Christmas tree farm, Fleming Landscaping Company. He loved the farm and spent much of his time there, never truly retiring. Jim was a past president and member of the Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association and in his free time enjoyed hunting and going with his family to camp in Medix Run. He also loved visiting Ocean City, MD with his wife and family and attending Penn State football games.

His memory will be cherished by his sons, Jonathan Brooks Fleming and wife, Heidi, and Brad Fleming, all of Elderton; daughters, Kimberly Fleming Fake and husband, Dean, of Wilmington, DE, and Michele Fleming Stone and husband, Jon, of Audubon, PA; grandchildren, Owen, Brendan, Mason, Noah, Kate, Carter, Kieran, Jack and Ava; and brother, Don Fleming and wife, Kathy, of Elderton.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Glenna (Stephens) Fleming, who died January 12, 2011.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Elderton Presbyterian Church, 115 N. Main St., Elderton, PA, with the Rev. Edward Gray officiating.
