Richard William Brocious

Richard William Brocious, 92, of Templeton, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 14, 1921 in Redbank Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Robert M. Brocious and Elva (Himes) Brocious.

Richard was a resident of Boggs Twp. for most of his life and graduated from Dayton High School in 1940. He then served in the US Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. For 13 years he worked as a bulldozer operator for Carpentertown Coke and Coal until retiring in 1985, but he before that worked on the family farm. Richard ran the farm with his wife, Iona, and he enjoyed not only farming, but working in his beautiful gardens. He was an active member of Zion Wesleyan Methodist church, where he served as the church's treasurer for many years. Richard also belonged to the United Mine Workers of America District 2 and the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. Those who knew him will always remember his dedication to his family and his kind heart.

His memory will be carried on with love by his son, Robert LeRoy Brocious and wife, Dianna, of Templeton; daughters, Carol Lee Myers and husband, Jack, and Donna J. Confer and husband, Ronald, all of Templeton, and Sandra K. Churchill Gangi and husband, Tom, of Alliance, OH; 11 grandchildren, Josh and Christopher Myers, Tia and Matthew Brocious, Karen and husband, Scott, Rhodes, Sharon and husband, Chris, Charrier, Julia and husband, Daniel, DuVall, Stacy and Jerry Wolfe, Andy and wife, Connie, Gangi, and Wayne Gangi; 17 great-grandchildren; Tamara, C'Quoya, Tapanga, Maria, Gilberto, Dilan, Charley and Jon Robert Brocious, Robert, Nathen and Thomas Anthony, David, Elisabeth and Melissa DuVall, Drew Gangi, Annalisa Duplissis, and Alexandra Wolfe; 18 step-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; brothers, R. Gerald Brocious, of Punxsutawney; Merle Brocious, of Michigan and Terry Brocious, of Dayton, PA; step-brothers, Evert Reed Yarger and wife Margaret of Fairmont City, PA and Gerald Yarger and wife Bonnie of Hubbard, OH and sisters, Clair Deemer and husband, Dick, of Poland, OH, Linda Bugay and husband, John, of Dayton, PA, and Peggy Blose and husband, Clifford "Kip", of Dayton, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 64 years, Iona K. (Fenstermaker) Brocious, who passed away March 29, 2012; step-mother, Pansey (Anderson) Brocious; brothers, H. Dwight Brocious and H. Wayne Brocious; half-brothers, James Kyle Yarger and Victor Yarger; and sister, Velma Hartman.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 515 N. McKean Street.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bradley Martin officiating, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.
