Dorothy Claire Huber

Dorothy Claire Huber, 94, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 at Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Punxsutawney, PA.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1928 in Porter Twp., Jefferson County, PA, the daughter of Walter Clair and Lillian Dorothy (Skinner) Snyder.

Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Punxsutawney High School and a resident of West Mahoning Township for 56 years. She was a member of Northpoint United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and the United Methodist Women Indiana Sub-district chairperson. She served on the West Mahoning Township Board of Elections from 1966 through 2009. Dorothy was the officer in charge of the Northpoint Post Office from Dec. 1981 until June of 1983. She served many years with the Western PA Conference School of Christian Mission as an officer, and on the Board of Directors of the Ruth M Smith Center.

Dorothy was a member of the Porter Township Sportsman's Club. She enjoyed hunting, sewing, and quilting. She made many quilts for family members, baby quilts for friends and family, and lap robes for residents in nursing homes.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Carol Alcorn and husband, Gary, of New Bethlehem, Diane Snyder and husband, Larry, of Creekside, Roy Huber and companion, Karen Filiberto, of FL, and Barbara Reddinger, of Mars; 12 grandchildren, Gwen Shoffner, Greg Alcorn and wife Trina, Amanda Coon and husband Gerry, David Alcorn, Jonathan Snyder, Jennifer Kennedy and husband Tim, Jason Snyder and wife Brecca, Julie Ferris and husband Tom, Roy W. Huber and Clodagh Harte, Kerri Weissbach and husband Randy, Christy Komp, and Jeremy Reddinger and wife Allison; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Snyder and wife, Thelma of Long Island, NY; sister, Bertha Day and husband, Bernard of FL; sister-in-law, Imogene Snyder of Oakdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Rexford L. "Rex" Huber, whom she married on May 24, 1947 and who passed away on Aug. 18, 2014; and a brother, Beryl Snyder in 2016.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, Oct.6, 2023 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Topar officiating.

Interment will be in Northpoint Cemetery, North Point, Pennsylvania.
