Ethel L. Grabowski

Ethel Grabowski, 92, of Brackenridge, PA, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at The Ridge at Heritage Meadows in Ford City, PA.

She was born May 14, 1929 in Natrona Heights, PA, the daughter of John and Sarah (Kokas) Balicki.

Ethel raised her three sons while operating her own beauty shop in the basement for five years. She then worked for DuCo Ceramics in Saxonburg for 15 years. She then moved to N.Y. and re-married Bernard Grabowski, leaving one step-son, David. Ethel moved baked to Pennsylvania after Bud's death and babysit for Dr. Rodger Johnson for 11 years and for Dr. Kemp for five years. At age 76, she was hired by Allegheny Valley Hospital as the midnight switchboard operator, where she worked until she retired at age 82. She volunteered at AVH for 20 years in between.

Her memory will be cherished by her three sons, Jim Schafer and wife, Linda Spring Hill, Fl, Rick Schafer and wife, Judy of Worthington, Pa, Tom Schafer and wife, Kim of Kittanning, Pa; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; and a brother, Ray Balicki and wife, Mary Ellen of Sarver, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Balicki and Leonard Balicki; and sisters, Helen Ann Rzeczkowski and Sophie Peg Belli.

At Ethel's request, there will be no services.
