William W. "Bill" ElwoodWilliam W. "Bill" Elwood, 84 of Ford City, PA and Eustis FL, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Waterman Hospital in Eustis, FL.
He was born on July 4, 1936 in Kittanning, PA to Chester and Mary Catherine (Ortman) Elwood.
Bill was a representative for the Prudential Insurance Company for 33 years retiring in 1993. He was a member and past President of the Kittanning and Chicora Rotary Clubs. Bill was a current member of the First Baptist Church in Kittanning and a former member of the Union Baptist Church on the Cadogan-Slate Lick Road, where he was a Sunday school teacher, Deacon and longtime Choir Director. Bill was a well-known Gospel singer around the tristate area. He formed the singing group the Ambassadors for Christ.
He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife Patricia, riding his bike and playing bocce with friends in both Pennsylvania and Florida. Bill will be best remembered for his tenor voice and love of family.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife Patricia (Dougherty) Elwood of Ford City; sons, William J. "Bill" Elwood of Eustis, FL, Richard J. Elwood and wife Melissa of Lancaster KY, Chester F. Elwood and wife Becky of Kittanning; daughter, Pamela Lacanienta and husband Ruel of Cedar Hill TX; brothers, John "Jack" Elwood of Kittanning, Robert "Bob" Elwood of Cockeysville, MD; sister, Michelle Grafton and husband Adam of Shelocta, PA; grandchildren, Brian Elwood and wife Michelle, Payton Elwood, Adam Elwood and Melanie, Morgan Elwood, Carrie (Elwood) Cockran and husband Mark, Jonathan Douglass and wife Cherie, and Matthew Douglass wife Tori, Shane Lacanienta and wife Chantelle, and Ryan Lacanienta; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Chester Elwood and sisters Kim Elwood and Mary Beth Maxeiner.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc., 515 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA
Additional visitation will be at 10 AM on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Kittanning, 334 Arch Street, Kittanning, PA 16201 until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM with Pastor Mark Brady officiating.
Due to current regulations, all social distancing guidelines will be followed. Guests are respectfully asked to wear a mask or face covering.
Interment will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA 16262.
