James C. "Jim" Hankey

James C. "Jim" Hankey, 75, of Ford City, PA, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at his residence.

He was born May 4, 1943 in Ford City, the son of Chester P. Hankey and Frances (Nelson) Hankey.

Jim was an active member of United Rockville Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with church dinners. He was known for his incredible work ethic and worked at PPG for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. He also formerly sold cars for Noel Ford and Troy Alan Buick and currently was employed for the Kittanning-Plumcreek Water Authority. On top of these jobs, Jim also found time to work as a notary for 50 years.

Outside of his work, Jim stayed busy with his many hobbies. He belonged to the Alamo Squares and danced with his wife, Alda, for over 20 years. Jim loved riding his four-wheeler and mowing his lawn, and also enjoyed his Tuesday afternoons bowling with friends. On his iPad, he played Words with Friends with people from all over the world. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially Chadeaux and Mitzi, but was happiest when with his family. Jim was known for his snow white hair and will be best remembered for being a caring and loving person who would do anything for his family and friends.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Alda (Wright) Hankey, whom he married April 30, 1966; sons, Andrew S. Hankey and companion, Deanna Hilliard, of Ford City, Jeffrey C. Hankey and wife, Patty, of Kittanning, Sheldon P. Hankey and wife, Stacey, of Ford City, Justin C. Hankey and wife, Mandy, of Kittanning, and Jed Q. Hankey, of Kittanning; daughter, Jami L. Burns and husband, Rick, of Kittanning; and brother, Robert W. Hankey and wife, Ruth Ann, of Kittanning. Jim was known as Pappy to grandchildren, Austin, Sydney, Jessalyn, Michaela, Aubrey, Jakob, Kaden and Marlee; step-grandchildren, Megan, Caige, Rachel, Ryan and Brittany; and step-great-grandchildren, Luke and Claire.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eileen L. Durst.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA 15736.

Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at United Rockville Lutheran Church, 720 St. Rt. 2020, Ford City, with the Rev. Barbara E. Love officiating.

Interment will be in United Rockville Lutheran Cemetery, Ford City, PA.
