John Foster Procious

John Foster Procious, 74, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Sept. 14, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

He was born Sept. 11, 1944 to Darl Irwin and Helen Mora (Foster) Procious in Kittanning.

Following his graduation from Kittanning High School, John served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Homestead, FL and Goose Bay, Labrador. He worked for West Penn/Armstrong Power for over 35 years in various positions and retired as a maintenance supervisor. He was also a long-serving director of West Penn Credit Union.

John took loving care of his parents, aunt, and other family members in their later years and enjoyed babysitting his youngest granddaughters several days each week. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and an active volunteer at the church's food bank, and also enjoyed volunteering with other community organizations. He served in many capacities with the Kittanning Lions Club, including two terms as King Lion and was recently made a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Friendly and outgoing, he was naturally curious and ready for adventure at every turn, whether at camp with the guys or pursuing his hobbies that included pilates, being outdoors, and a lifelong enthusiasm for Lionel Trains. He initiated biannual family beach vacations to the Jersey Shore to keep his far-flung family connected.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Bridget (Kirk) Procious; son, Jesse Kirk Procious and wife, Misti Lukhard Procious, and grandchildren, Morgan L. Lukhard, and Jacob K. and Aaron J. Procious, of Richmond, VA; daughter, Jean Marie Procious and husband, John M. Owen and grandchildren, Linus J. and Kai W. Owen, of Salem, MA; and daughter, Joanne E. "Joni" Krajcovic and husband, Richard A. Krajcovic, Jr., and grandchildren, Emma B. and Ellie G. Krajcovic, of Sarver, PA. He is also survived by his brother, Frederick D. Procious and wife, Judith A. Procious, of Sodus Point, NY and Spring Hill, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept., 17, 2018, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, with the Rev. Dana Wilmot and Rev. Hester Shick co-officiating.

Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, PA, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
