Joseph P. Crisman, 93, of Templeton, PA, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018, at his residence.

He was born July 26, 1924 in Reynoldsville, PA, the son of Luke H. and Margaret A. (Leech) Crissman.

Joseph attended the Hawkville Grade School and later Union High School. He worked at Carnegie Steel in Sharon, PA and served in the US Air Force from 1943-1945. Joseph was stationed in New York City and then went to propeller specialist school. After attending school, he was stationed in Florida, Texas, South Dakota and England.

Joseph married Elva J. Unger on September 3, 1949 at the Lawsonham United Methodist Church and had the honor of being the first couple to be married in the church. He went to watch-making school in Pittsburgh and opened his own business in Rimersburg. Joseph loved working with metal and enjoyed rebuilding and fixing machines and motors. He worked for O. C. Lindenpit of Rimersburg and retired as a machinist from US Steel in Vandergrift in 1986. Joseph was also a member of New Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #522.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah D. Crisman, of Venus, PA; granddaughter, Dr. Nicole Drummond, of New Bethlehem; sister, Mildred Bole, of Rimersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Elva J. (Unger) Crisman, who died February 20, 2014; twin brother, James A. Crisman; and brothers, Darwin Crisman and Warren Crissman.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of funeral services at 10 AM on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Milliron officiating.

Interment will be in Tidal Union Cemetery, Templeton, Pennsylvania.
