Carl H. Lytle, 87, of Cowansville, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at ACMH Hospital.

He was born February 2, 1931 in Luciusboro, PA, the son of Joseph C. and Hattie (Vasbinder) Lytle.

Carl was a longtime resident of Kittanning and also spent years in Albuquerque, NM and Arkansas. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force for 22 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and later worked as a school bus driver in Pennsylvania and New Mexico for 10 years. Carl was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Cadogan and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #4843 of Ford City. He also belonged to Argyle Lodge #540 F&AM Masonic Lodge of Chicora and the Scottish Rite of New Castle. Carl loved baseball and never failed to cheer on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Left to cherish his memory is his fiancée, Essie B. (Stockdill) Schreckengost, of Kittanning; sons, Carl H. Lytle, Jr., of Morrilton, AR, Joseph C. Lytle, of North Little Rock, AR, and Gary A. Lytle, of Georgia; daughter, Vicki Lytle, of Rocky Top, TN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean L. Fyock and husband, Harry, of Hamburg, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Louise K. (Hoey) Lytle, whom he married November 11, 1978 and who died September 14, 2000; daughter, Rachel M. White; and half-brothers, James and Oliver Densmore.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where a Masonic service will take place at 6:45 PM.

Additional visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of the Blessing Service at 10 AM on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alan Grote officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kittanning, PA, where military honors will be presented by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
