Phillis Barbara Davis

Phillis Barbara Davis, 86, of South Bend Twp., PA, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Premier Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born December 21, 1931 in Vandergrift, PA, the daughter of Kenneth M. and Josephine E. (Craft) Wells.

Phillis graduated from Elders Ridge High School in 1949 and married Wendell B. Davis, Sr. on June 17, 1950. She became a resident of the area in 1960 and received her LPN license in 1976. Phillis previously worked at Armsdale Country Home as an LPN and in 1991 began working at the former Armstrong County Health Center, serving the residents there for 17 years.

She was a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in events with the congregation; she also made time to work with children at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect. Phillis belonged to the Elderton American Legion Auxiliary and in her free time enjoyed quilting and working on crafts. Genealogy was one of her many interests and she liked researching and learning about her family's history. She also loved traveling and had fond memories of her favorite vacation: a 2004 trip to Ireland.

She is survived by her son, Alan D. Davis and wife, Linda, of South Bend Twp.; daughters, Suzie Davis, of Ford City, and Mary Ann Broad, of Evans City; grandchildren, Shonda Davis-Howes and husband, Todd, Kerri Davis, Carly Flick and Bryan Broad; great-grandsons, Jason Barker and Jeffrey Wolfe; brother, Wilford Clark "Butch" Wells and wife, Betty, of Phoenix, AZ; and sister, Mary Ethel Grinder, of Lewistown, PA.

Phillis was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Wendell B. Davis, Sr.; son, Wendell B. Davis, Jr., who died in 1997; sister, Agatha Wermuth; and son-in-law, Robert W. "Bud" Broad, who passed away in 2012.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
