Harry G. Johns

Harry G. Johns, 89, of Elderton, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana.

He was born May 20, 1928 in Indiana Co., PA, the son of Harry J. and Margaret R. (Smith) Johns.

Harry lived in the area all of his life and was a lifelong member of the Indiana Elks Lodge. He worked at Wean United Foundry of Vandergrift for 34 years. He was a dedicated member of Elderton Presbyterian Church and served as a past elder for the congregation. Harry was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors. He also enjoyed watching ball games and spending time with his best friend, John. His family was very important to him, and he loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gladys R. Johns, whom he married June 4, 1950; son, Terry Johns and wife, Blythe, of Ebensburg; grandchildren, Kirsten Stiffler and husband, John, Nathan Johns and wife, Jennifer, Dan F. Zelenski and wife, Christie, and Senta Zelenski; and great-grandchildren, Ayden Stiffler, Travis Johns, Landon Zelenski, Gabriella Stiffler, Emily Johns, Aybrah Zelenski and Alayna Zelenski.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Zelenski; brothers, Earl, Arthur, Bernard and Lisle Johns; and sisters, Vera Cessna and Wilda Cooper.

At the family's request, services will be private.

Burial will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, Pennsylvania.
