Mary J. Hetrick

Mary J. Hetrick, 81, of Rural Valley, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 24, 1936, in Kimmel Twp., Bedford Co., PA, the daughter of Wilson and Laura (Burket) Walter.

Mary was a longtime resident of the Shelocta and Indiana areas and a member of Whitesburg United Methodist Church. She served as the Noble Grand at Silver Star Rebekah Lodge #67 in Elderton and enjoyed playing bingo. Mary was happiest when spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Blaine Oswalt and wife, Kay, of Council Bluffs, IA, and Michael Hetrick, of South Bend, IN; daughter, Louise (Oswalt) Graff and husband, Bernard, of Rural Valley, PA; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ross Walter, of El Dorado, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Michele Hetrick, who died in 1964; son, Curtis Oswalt, who died in 1977; grandsons, George Graff, who died in 2001, and BJ Graff, who died in 2016; brothers, Jesse, Ray and Curtis Walter; infant sister, Rosella Walter; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Hetrick.

At the request of Mary, her services will be private.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, PA.
