Kathryn A. "Kathy" Swartz

Kathryn A. Swartz, 69, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at her home.

She was born May 9, 1948 in Kittanning, PA, the daughter of Wilbur M. and Mary Ellen (Stebick) Bowers.

Kathy was a lifelong resident of Kittanning and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1966. Family was paramount in her life and she had close relationships with many of her relatives. Kathy raised children for 50 years and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and enjoyed having lunch with the girls from Table 11. Kathy was known to be a walking library and read hundreds of books throughout her life. She loved to laugh and had the gift of always having the right words to cheer someone up. Kathy regularly used the phrase, "Because nice matters," and her genuine personality was a blessing to those who knew her.

She will be remembered with love by her husband, Michael J. Swartz, whom she married June 5, 1971; son, Jason J. Swartz and wife, Rebecca, of Osprey, FL; daughters, Megan Lynn Swartz, of Kittanning, Devon Wolfe and husband, Bradley, of Adrian, and Shannon Swartz and fiancé, Andy Kean, of Greenfield; grandchildren, Ethan Swartz, Jake Swartz, Grace Swartz, Brady Wolfe, Connor Wolfe and Julian Kean; brothers, Jeffrey F. Bowers, Chris J. Bowers and wife, Sonnie, Kurt J. Bowers and wife, Tish, and Bradley G. Bowers and wife, Kathy, all of Kittanning; sisters, Lynn Klink and husband, William, of Holiday Park, PA, and Jane Small and husband, Ted, of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, PA, with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
