Robert Louis Podvorec

Robert Louis Podvorec, 59, of Ford City, PA, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 7, 2017 at ACMH Hospital, following a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.

He was born August 16, 1957 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Stanley and Josephine (Rusiski) Podvorec.

Bob graduated from Avalon High School in 1975 and attended the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey. He began his career as a PA State Trooper in Hershey and started his service with Troup D in Kittanning in 1984. Bob was promoted to the rank of Corporal and spent most of his 25-year career in Kittanning, retiring in January of 2007.

Following his retirement, Bob worked at Tractor Supply, was a substitute teacher at Lenape Tech and served the families at Bauer Funeral Home. He gave back to the community by volunteering as the co-chair for Relay for Life and as an advisor for his sons' youth group. He also helped with Rescue Road Warriors, driving dogs from kill shelters to rescue shelters. Bob coached his sons' Little League teams and Lenape Elementary basketball teams. He was a member of the Kittanning First United Methodist Church, F. O. P. Brady Paul Lodge, and Armstrong Police Association, where he held the position of vice-president.

Bob loved spending time with his wife and sons, fishing, and going to his camp in Cooksburg. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Bode, Missy, Maizy, Ellie, Kylie and Clyde, and his kitties.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Mandy J. (Walbert) Podvorec, whom he married September 17, 1988; sons, Colton Robert Podvorec, of Dormont, and Trenton John Podvorec, at home; brothers, Stanley E.
