Richard E. "Dick" Reedy, 78, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 10, 1939 in Templeton, PA, the son of Edward B. and Anna L. (Myers) Reedy.

Dick was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County and honorably served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was self-employed as a contractor and also worked at Pullman Standard and Allegheny Ludlum.

Kittanning was important to Dick and he served local residents in many capacities. He served various terms as a 4th Ward Borough Council member and was involved with Hose Company #6 Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Dick also belonged to the Jaycees and Lions Club and worked with the Lenape Little League and Cub Scouts. He was very active in the Republican Party, and enjoyed couponing and spending time with his family.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Thelma M. "Tootie" (Smeltzer) Reedy; three sons, Robert E. Reedy of Richmond, VA, Richard E. Reedy and wife, Ruth, of Stow, OH, and Rodney E. Reedy and wife, Sarah, of Berlin, PA; one grandson, Luke Reedy; his beloved niece, Margie Riggle of Kittanning; a brother, Larry Reedy of Shreveport, LA; and four sisters, Lois Bayliff of Findley, OH, Deloris Shoemaker of Findley, OH, Sandy Waugaman of Virginia, and Donna Lee Marrapode of Kittanning.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Reedy; and two sisters, Helen Hendershot, and Beverly Aikens.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, July, 14, 2017 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at noon on Saturday, July, 15, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Nick Wilson officiating. A military service will follow and be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
