Leonard W. Frye

Leonard W. Frye, 78, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 3, 1939, in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong County, PA, the son of Clair J. and Iola G. (Clark) Frye.

Leonard was a lifelong resident of Shelocta and a member of Plumcreek Church of the Brethren. In April of 2002, he retired as a manager from Allegheny Wire Line Services and was formerly self-employed as a truck driver. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies and he loved going to his camp in Potter County. Leonard took many trips to Colorado and Wyoming to hunt muledeer and elk. Leonard also liked riding his Harley Davidson and going Sturgis, and enjoyed fixing up old vehicles. Family was paramount in his life and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Leonard will be best remembered for his willingness to help anyone at any time.

His memory will be cherished by his sons, Donald Lee Frye and wife, Denise, and Daniel W. Frye, all of Shelocta; daughter, Melissa McClafferty and husband, William, of Shelocta; grandchildren, Trey Frye, Skyler Frye, Brandon Frye, and Ashton McClafferty; and brother, Richard C. Frye and wife, Sue, of Elderton.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Mary Ann (Black) Frye, whom he married October 13, 1959 and who died April 23, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of 11 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Sandy Peterman officiating.

Burial will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
