Harry E. Bonner, 82, of Verona, PA, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Longwood at Oakmont.

He was born December 24, 1934 in Kittanning, PA, the son of Charles A. "Alex" Bonner, Sr. and Margaret I. (George) Bonner.

Harry graduated from Kittanning High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He was a career military officer who served in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. Harry also worked as a Medical Services and Supply Officer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Fort Detrick, Maryland. He graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and his final years in the military were spent with a National Guard Unit in Columbus, Ohio. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam.

Following his retirement from the military, Harry worked for H&R Block in Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning and belonged to numerous civic and military organizations. Harry was also a Mason and a Sojourner. He loved gardening, wine and wine making, and enjoyed researching the genealogy of his family.

He will be greatly missed by his brother, Joseph A. Bonner and wife, Shirley (Harrold) Bonner, of Aspinwall; sister, Mary Pauline (Bonner) Miller, of Cabot; nephews, David E. Miller, of Arlington, VA, Charles A. "Alex" Bonner, III, of Frisco, NC, Calvin J. Miller, MD and wife, Nancy, of Leechburg, and Joseph E. "Jeb" Bonner, of Palm Springs, CA; nieces, Lisa Bonner Hoerner and husband, Mike, of Carlisle, PA, Margaret L. "Meg" Bonner, of Brooklyn, NY, and Molly Miller Downs and husband, Rick, of San Antonio, TX; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles A. Bonner, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the Bonner Family Cemetery, Kittanning, PA, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
