John G. Wolfe

John G. Wolfe, 79, of Girty, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, February 5, 2017 after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born February 15, 1937 in Clymer, PA, the son of Wayne and Helen (Evans) Wolfe.

John graduated from Pine Township High School in Heilwood, PA, where he played varsity baseball and lettered in baseball. He worked at Musser Forests in Indiana, PA, National Store Fixture in Yatesboro, Raychord Manufacturing in Apollo and at Reynolds Manufacturing in Avonmore as a welder for 27 years. John also worked for several years at the Keystone and Homer City power plants. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Girty and was an avid baseball fan. He frequently attended Indiana County League games, especially those in West Lebanon. When his health was good, he loved hunting, fishing and going to auctions. John enjoyed talking to his buddies and striking up a conversation with people he met.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Kathleen (Ray) Wolfe, whom he married December 30, 1961; sons, Barry Wolfe, of Shelocta, and Brad Wolfe, of Blairsville; daughter, Brenda Wolfe, of Elderton; grandsons, Forest Matson, of Ford City, and Tanner Wolfe, of Homer City; brothers, James Wolfe and wife, Betsy, of Mars, Larry Wolfe and wife, Phyllis, of Mogadore, OH, and Tom Wolfe, of Stockport, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Deborah Wolfe; and nephew, James Wolfe, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA 15736.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 449 Girty Rd., Shelocta, with the Rev. Ernie DeLuca officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Shelocta, PA.
