Wayne H. Priester

Wayne H. Priester, 79, of Templeton, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born in Altman, PA on February 27, 1934, the son of Charles O. and Dena (Marsinetti) Priester.

Wayne graduated from Dayton High School in 1952 and served in the US Army. He was a resident of Templeton since 1955 and was a member of Kittanning Church of Christ and UMWA Local 819. Wayne worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic at Carpentertown Coal for 12 years, BH&H Coal for three years and Reddinger Coal for 23 years. After retiring from the coal industry, he worked in the maintenance department at the Armstrong County Court House for seven years until 1998. Wayne loved being outdoors and his favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his cats, Sierra and Mittens, but above all treasured being with his family. Wayne was also gifted at working on and restoring antique cars.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Mary L. (Allegretto) Priester, whom he married July 23, 1955; sons, Rodney C. Priester and wife, Paula, of Arlington, TN, and Ryan W. Priester and wife, Renee, of Irwin, PA; grandchildren, Caitlin and Connor Priester, of Arlington, TN; sister, Joanne Oviatt and husband, Keith, of Pittsfield, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Mary Maxine Priester.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Kittanning Church of Christ, 213 Blaney Rd., Kittanning, with Evangelist Larry Krause officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
