Allene Carolyn Crissman

Allene Carolyn Crissman, 89, of Templeton, PA passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born January 7, 1924 in Madison, GA, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Duke) Morris.

Allene spent her younger years living in Georgia and El Paso, TX, but was a resident of the Templeton area for more than 60 years. During high school, Allene played basketball, and during World War II worked in an ammunitions plant in Macon, GA. She later worked as a production worker for the Owens Illinois glass plant, but enrolled in the Clarion State Teachers College, earning her Bachelor's Degree in 1953. For many years, she touched countless lives as a first grade teacher at elementary schools in Emlenton, Templeton and Dayton. Allene was a member of Lawsonham United Methodist Church and was a wonderful cook, learning from her mother.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 72 years, Warren Crissman, who she married July 1, 1941; brothers, Mason Morris and wife, Geraldine, of Michigan and Arizona, and Wayman Morris and wife, Deidre, of North Carolina; sister, Louise Washburn, of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Allene was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Agnes Simmons and Edra Morris.

Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main St., Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Lawsonham United Methodist Church, 3511 Lawsonham Rd., Rimersburg, with the Rev.Dennis A. Fetter officiating.

Burial will be in Tidal Union Cemetery, Templeton, Pennsylvania.
