Phoebe G. Zimmerman

Phoebe G. Zimmerman, 77, of Dayton, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at home.

She was born on October 8, 1935 in Reynoldsville, PA, the daughter of Albert G. and Hazel (Wingrove) Roush.

Phoebe graduated from Shannock Valley High School and was a member of Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing games and working on puzzles, and she also collected porcelain dolls. Family was paramount in her life and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phoebe spent her entire life helping and caring for others. For six years she owned and operated Phoebe's Country Care Personal Care Home before retiring in 1995. Phoebe was also gifted in quilting, sewing and crocheting. Throughout her life she made numerous doilies, quilts and other items for her family and friends, and they will forever cherish these hand-made treasures. Phoebe's caring nature toward others will always be remembered by those who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 57 years, Carl E. Zimmerman, whom she married on November 24, 1955; son, Terry Zimmerman and wife, Gloria, of Templeton; daughters, Pamela G. Turney and husband, James, of Worthington, Melody Lockhart and husband, Mike, of Dayton, PA, and Judy Satterfield and husband, Matthew, of Sugar Grove, PA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, George Roush and wife, Essie, of Adrian, Ron Roush and wife, Gaynelle, of Dayton, PA, Paul Roush, of De Peyster, NY, John Roush and companion, Ane Roush, of Yakima, WA, and Harvey Roush and wife, Elaine, of Linfield; and sisters, Jane McIntire, of Dayton, PA, Ann Kough and husband, Chris, of Indiana, PA, Mary Saul and husband, William, of Limerick, PA, Florence "Flossie" Bump and husband, Dennis, of Tonopah, AZ, Nellie Elkin and husband, Robert, of Kittanning, Connie Roush and husband, James, of Toccoa, GA, Hope Cunix, of Painsville, OH, and Ruth Weible and husband, Steve, of Kittanning.

Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Roush.

Relatives and friends may visit from 7-9 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 and from 1-3 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, Inc., 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Church, 1433 St. Route 66, Templeton, PA, with the Pastor David D. Murphy officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Zion United Presbyterian Cemetery, Templeton, PA.
