Richard Clark Hiles

Richard Clark Hiles, age 65, of Templeton, PA, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Rimersburg, PA on July 31, 1947, the son of Merton and Helen (Clark) Hiles.

Rich graduated from Union High School in 1965. He then joined the US Navy where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a Seabee. After returning from the service, Richard married Veronica "Bonnie" Delacour on May 18, 1974 and shared nearly 39 years together, residing in the Tidal/Widnoon area. Rich worked as a heavy equipment operator and over the years he was employed by New Dominion, C & K and H.J. Snyder before retiring in 2005.

Rich loved antique cars, going to casinos and riding his Harley. His grandchildren were his world; they always came first and Rich adored both of them and cherished the time spent together. He will be best remembered for his good-hearted spirit, his outgoing personality and the "gift of gab".

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Veronica "Bonnie" J. (Delacour) Hiles; a son, Richie Hiles and wife, Lori of Sligo; two grandchildren, Karlin Hiles and Kaylee Hiles; three sisters, Susan C. Barger and husband, Larry of Rimersburg, Emily Marshall and husband, Wayde of Haines City, FL, and Pat Stewart and husband, Terry of Rimersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may visit from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Pete Sapp officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the funeral home following services by the Rimersburg VFW Post #7132 and American Legion Post #454.

Burial will follow in Tidal Union Cemetery, Madison Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
