Betty J. Barrett

Betty J. Barrett, 92, of Kittanning, PA, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of John Levi and Maude M. (Reighert) Hull.

Betty was a resident of the Templeton area most of her life and was a member of Templeton Church of God. She loved attending church activities and participated in the church's women's organization, W.C.S.C. During WWII, Betty worked at the VA Hospital in Butler, PA, performing various duties around the facility, and starting in 1959, she worked in her home as a self-employed hairdresser for 35 years. Flowers and gardening were of great interest to her and she enjoyed creating beautiful gardens around her home. Another of her favorite activities was bowling and she was active in the sport since 1959. Betty loved her family and cared for them deeply, and they will never forget her devotion to them over the years.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John L. "Jack" Barrett and wife, Janice, of Kittanning, and Kenneth A. Barrett and wife, Jen, of Silver Springs, FL; grandsons, John A., Tucker and Andrew J. Barrett and wife, Erin; granddaughters, Amanda S. Greighsop and husband, Matt, and Megan Barrett; and great-grandchildren, Sam, Arlo and Otis Greighsop, and Lillian Barrett.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Kenneth E. Barrett, who died September 22, 1992.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 515 N. McKean Street, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Templeton Church of God, 276 Clay St., Templeton, with Rev. Robert Grimm and Vivian Sylvester co-officiating.

Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery, Templeton, PA.
