Gerard Knight, 95, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Plumcreek Twp., PA, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Vitas Hospice Center in Orlando, FL.

He was born September 3, 1921 in Scranton, PA, the son of Franklin and Marcella (McLane) Knight.

Gerard worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone for 37 years, served in the Coast Guard for three years during WWII and retired from the Coast Guard Reserve in 1981 as a Lieutenant Commander. He was a past commander of the Hugh E. Connelly Post of the American Legion in Midland Park, New Jersey, a member and past commander of the Elderton Post 918 of the American Legion, and a member of the Reserve Officers Association and the Civilian Conservation Corp Alumni Association.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Norma (Fry) Knight, whom he married July 9, 1978; sons, Henry Knight and wife, Sue, of Haines City, FL, and James Knight and wife, Ruth, of Peekskill, NY; step-sons, John Craig, of Orlando, FL, Michael Craig and wife, Shelley, of Tallahassee, FL, and Peter Craig and wife, Stacey, of Leechburg, PA; and ten grandchildren.

Gerard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Henrietta (Connelly) Knight; son, David Knight; and brother, Franklin Knight.

Visitation will be from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton.

Friends will also be received from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow at Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
