Joseph E. "Ed" Ruffner, 78, of Shelocta, PA, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born January 23, 1938, in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA to Andrew K. and Gladys V. (Young) Ruffner.

Ed was a lifetime resident of the Plumcreek Township area and had graduated from Elderton High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a truck driver for over 60 years and was previously self-employed, but most recently worked for Bernie Parks until his recent illness. Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Coudersport Consistory. He enjoyed going to the movie theater, hunting, and riding his quad. Ed loved spending time on the road and he will be remembered for having a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his three children, Donald L. Ruffner and wife, Valerie of Shelocta, Patricia Ann Ruffner of Indiana, PA, and David A. Ruffner of North Carolina; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte L. (Crownover) Ruffner; and a sister, Aleta Henderson.

Per Ed's request, there will be no visitation or memorial service.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
