Arlene L. Patcyk

Arlene L. Patcyk, age 63, of Kittanning, Armstrong Co., PA, died, Monday, April 4, 2016, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 30, 1952, at Yale, New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Andrew George Carrano, Sr. and Olympia Lucille (Annunziata) Carrano.

Arlene was a resident of Kittanning for many years and was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church. She earned her Bachelor's degree in secondary social studies education in 1992 and was hired as a substitute teacher for the Armstrong School District in 1993. Arlene became a full-time teacher for Ford City High School in 1996 and most recently taught at Armstrong Jr./Sr. High School. In addition to teaching social studies, she was a long-time advisor for student government and chaperoned many student trips. Arlene loved working with the student council and attending the state conference each year in Philadelphia. Being an educator was her life's passion and she loved investing in the lives of her students.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband of nearly 45 years, John D. Patcyk, whom she married April 17, 1971; son, Justin C. Patcyk, of Kittanning; grandchildren, Joseph Goldinger, Johnathan Patcyk, Brooke Lash, Alexander Anthony and Jordan Shaffer; brothers, Frank Carrano and Ronald Carrano, both of Branford, CT; a sister, Patricia Wacholz, of Winsted, CT; and a sister-in-law, Leontia Carrano of Wallingford, CT.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kristen Patcyk, who died January 10, 2010; and two brothers, Andrew George "Butch" Carrano, Jr. and James DeNegris.


The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
