Lt. Col. Thomas W. Dunmire (retired), 92, of Casselberry, FL, formerly of Avonmore, PA, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 31, 1923 in Avonmore to Thomas Washington Dunmire and Viola Susan (Shaffer) Dunmire.

Thomas spent most of his life in the area until moving to Florida in 1988. He served in the US Air Force as a navigator for 20 years until his retirement as Lieutenant Colonel in 1968. In his free time, Thomas loved camping and sitting around a campfire. Fishing, boating and target practicing were other favorite pastimes, and he also enjoyed playing poker, going to the movies and watching "The Price is Right." With his children living all over the country, he traveled all over to visit them and see his grandchildren. Thomas will be best remembered for being a highly devoted father and husband.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas W. Dunmire, Jr., of Casselberry, FL, Robert E. Dunmire and wife, Gloria, of Oviedo, FL, Timothy E. Dunmire and wife, Marsha, of Casselberry, FL, and Wayne "Pat" Dunmire and wife, Kaye, of Monett, MO; daughters, Mary L. Hughes and husband, Bill, of Clarington, PA, Gloria Williams and husband, Douglas, of Rapid City, SD; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, John Zanka, of Rapid City, SD.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Mildred G. (Palmer) Dunmire, who died in 1988; son, Ray Thomas Dunmire; daughters, Kathleen Dunn and Cynthia "Cindy" Zanka; son-in-law, James "Jimmy" Dunn; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Tagliaferre officiating.

Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore, PA, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
