Harvey L. "Bunchie" Cobbett

Harvey L. "Bunchie" Cobbett, 96, of Chickasaw, PA, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014, at Kittanning Care Center surrounded by his family.

He was born January 20, 1918 in Hawkville, PA, the son of George E. and Anna (Forringer) Cobbett.

Harvey lived in the area all his life and attended Hawkville School. He worked as a coal miner for the Carpentertown Lee Mine for 45 years, retiring in 1980. Harvey was a member of Widnoon United Methodist Church, the Widnoon Rod and Gun Club and the NRA. He enjoyed being outdoors while hunting and working in his gardens, and also took pleasure in caring for his pet beagles. Harvey had a deep love for his family and especially loved Sunday afternoons when they would share cake and coffee on the front porch.

He will be remembered with love by his daughters, Virginia A. Brison and husband, William, of Templeton, Judy M. Altman, of Chickasaw, and Phyllis J. Bowser and husband, William, of Widnoon; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Chulack, of Pittsburgh, and Marian Keeler and husband, Leonard, of Ash Flats, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Ruth M. "Doggie" Cobbett, whom he married January 25, 1941 and who died May 30, 2014; granddaughter, Jamie Forringer Beletrick; brothers, Paul, Raymond, Richard and Edward Cobbett; and sister, Josephine Crissman.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, November 14, 2014, at the funeral home, with Rev. Joni Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery, Templeton, PA.
