John Wayne Baum, 77, of Templeton, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 11, 1937 in Boggs Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, to John Franklin and Nellie (Wray) Baum.

Wayne graduated from Dayton High School in 1955 and was a resident of Armstrong County all his life. He honorably served in the US Army and then worked as a delivery man for UPS for 30-and-a-half years until his retirement in 1993; during that time he received the 25 Year Safe Driving award. At home, Wayne kept busy by working on his family farm to conserve his land for wildlife. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Pinecreek Sportsman Club. He enjoyed stocking trout and working at the Dayton Fair stand. Wayne loved spending time with his friends and family, and was proud that he had the privilege of teaching each of his grandchildren to hunt and fish. Despite his many interests, Wayne's service to God was number one in his life. He was the associate pastor at Faith Cathedral in Kittanning for 30 years and will be remembered for his selfless dedication in showing God's love to others.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 56 years, Peggy (Lockhart) Baum, whom he married June 14, 1958; sons, Michael W. Baum and wife, Lynn, of Guntown, MS, and Mark L. Baum and wife, Paula, of Templeton; and grandchildren, Alexandria Baum, Tyler Baum, Rebekah Baum, Marisa Baum and Leah Baum.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James F. Baum; sisters, Charlotte Doverspike and Dorothy Scaife; infant sister, Janet Baum; and Jack Russell Terrier dog, Scrappy.
