Phyllis M. Farren

Phyllis M. Farren, 84, of Bruin, PA, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Chicora Medical Center.

She was born June 2, 1930 in Oil City, PA, the daughter of Ernest and Evelyn (Withers) Snow.

Phyllis was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City and worked as a cashier at Quaker State Restaurant for many years before retiring in 1993. She loved being in nature and found peace while working in her gardens or bird watching. Every football and baseball season, Phyllis could be found cheering on the Steelers and the Pirates. Those who knew her will never forget her pleasant countenance and beautiful smile.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Donald E. Farren and wife, Ruth Ann, of Bruin, Kenneth L. Farren and wife, Colleen, of Petrolia, and Randy J. Farren and wife, Wanda, of Havlock, NC; daughter, Paula S. Gibson and husband, David, of South Lyon, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Blair, Jason Farren, Daniel Farren, Benjamin Farren, Molly Farren, Abby Farren, Megan Gibson and Rebecca Gibson; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Kowal, of Oil City; step-brother, Terry Williams, of Venango County; and step-sister, Cheryl Williams, of Venango County.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Donald L. Farren, whom she married November 20, 1947 and who died in 1993; sisters, Norma Connors and Myra Jane Bickel; and step-brother, Bob Williams.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 102 S. Argyle Street, Petrolia.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating.

Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, PA.
